I'm not one to grumble about the weather, I take what comes around, but seriously - what is going on with our weather? Today started off well with the sun actually shining. One dog and two cats trotted outside first thing to enjoy the warmth and lay in the sun. For a couple of hours. Then - all change. First it clouds over in the usual way, then along comes our old friend the rain. Just another summer shower I thought and took a very reluctant labrador out for his daily walk - aren't labs supposed to love going out in all weathers?
No sooner had I started walking than the rain started to come down harder. By the time I had got half way through the walk, I had to take shelter under a tree as the rain came down in bucketfuls. And it was so cold. After about ten minutes or so, I decided to make a run for it as it was showing no signs of letting up and the sky was a threatening black. Back home with Monty, 'wet dog' smell pervades the house. Outside, hail is coming down hard and bouncing off the floor and garden furniture which doesn't seem to have had much use so far this year. What happened to balmy summer evenings outside? Then a loud thunder crack followed by lightning. Animals are now all snuggled up inside and back to the normality of the last few weeks.
July...really?
