Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to have tickets for the Olympic Park. Following a lively, fun and very British Opening Ceremony on Friday, we couldn't wait to get into the Olympic Park and to see it for ourselves.
I've been getting regular updates via text and e-mail informing me of potential travel problems in London due to the increased volume of people that the Games bring. In the event, our journey up was relatively quick and comfortable. We had travel cards issued with our Olympic Park tickets and the whole journey was easy and hassle-free. The Olympic 2012 signing at the stations is superb and there are so many volunteers around who are there to help.
The atmosphere in the park is one of happiness, friendliness and excitement. After all the waiting and anticipation, the London 2012 Games are finally here and people can't wait for it to get underway.
The stadium is very imposing. The Orbit is........interesting.
The meadows around the stadium are gorgeous and the colour is beautiful.
Marigolds and cornflowers in the meadows were lovely and their fragrance filled the air. They gave a relaxing and tranquil feel amidst the excitement.
There were many food outlets. The huge Westfield Shopping Centre in the background - a day out in itself!
Crowds enjoying the Men's Cycling Road Race
It was so lovely to be in such a cosmopolitan environment and to see London welcoming the world.
We had a great day. Can't wait to go back for the Paralympic Games.
